Shades & textures of natural products will vary & cannot be guaranteed.
All sizes, weights & measures are approximate .
All the products manufactured & stocked by Earlswood Nurseries Ltd . are produced from the highest quality materials available. Great care is taken to select the most suitable timber for all our products.
Where timber fencing is concerned however, and particularly panel fencing, it must be remembered that wood is a natural product and will be subject to movement as it seasons. It is not uncommon for splits to occur ( called shakes ) in timber when drying, and warping can occur if the timber is allowed to dry too rapidly. These will normally revert when the humidity rises. Slats, battens and posts eventually seasoning into the correct position.
To get the best out of your fencing and panels in particular, please observe the following recommendations:
Timber is a natural material it is important that during dry weather and in particular the first year after installation or during storage that the wood is wetted down regularly as with a newly planted tree or shrub.
Timber storage must be on a level surface. Unseasoned timber should not be upright unsupported.
Treating your fencing annually with water based proprietary treatment will extend the life of the new fence and keep it looking good. However, it should be remembered that your new fence panels come factory treated and should be left for a while to weather, before applying any treatment.
If you must re-treat a new panel to colour match, both sides of the panel must be treated, as warping can occur due to the uneven application of treatment.
To validate the guarantee on fence panels, it must be remembered that the panel must be at least 50mm off the ground. We recommend either a timber or concrete gravel board to add years to the life of the product.
Prevent splitting of the batons when nailing to the post by using fence panel brackets, which come in a number of styles to suit every task. Of course you may choose to use concrete slotted posts or timber slotted posts to avoid permanent fixing to timber posts and ease maintenance.
It is impossible for us to guarantee our timber products and panels against the movement of wood as this is a natural reaction to moisture loss and is obviously out of anyone's control. We do however endeavour to maintain the highest standards in the construction of our fencing and gates and trust that they will give you long and continued good service .
